I discovered this problem on 8.1.1.7 using multiple charts on the same instrument. (NQ.) Debugging didn't help so I downgraded back to 8.0.26.1. This was the last version that didn't have the update to the SQLite. Support claims that their latest version 8.1.3.0 solves this problem. Is that true? Is anyone still seeing "Unhandled Exception" errors under 8.1.3.0?

It seems they have fixed the bug. Current version working fine for me now! (of course back up current environment as insurance...)Originally posted by SilverSurfer1 View PostI discovered this problem on 8.1.1.7 using multiple charts on the same instrument. (NQ.) Version 8.1.3.0 fixes the freezing issue. No unhandled exception write-lock / read-lock deadlock events with 8.1.3.0. Very happy to have that critical bug fixed, but why did it take over a year from the first user bug reports to stop blaming it on our "complex workspaces", 3rd-party add-ons, and custom scripts, and to find and fix the actual problem. I hope there will be some significant QA/QC and support process improvements to come from this.

I'm happy to hear this problem is fixed. I will still wait a while before upgrading to 8.1.3.0. The current NT support debug tools need some improvement. They need a set of tools that can monitor and trap deadlock problems in real-time. I think support took so long with this issue because their debug tools only collect data "after the fact." That is not helpful with FFDC.

Well it seems that the issues in this post have dwindled with the introduction of 8.1.3. All of the discussion previous fits my current problem to a 'T' except that my problems are in Playback when running a strategy.
I get chart freezing at seemingly random times, which most times are accompanied by the read/write lock error message. My indicators each use 4 data series, so they are expected to be a bit of a load. The data series are ES and NQ ranges,
I think I may of found something repeatable that may give a clue. Lets say I have a Playback 1 week run set up, I can set it at 30x speed, leave it along, and it freezes pretty quickly into the run, usually just after the 1st order.
Same run, but this time I set it at max speed and just after start I hit pause and the play, I repeat this toggle after each order or after 1 or 3 hrs. Not exact science but its repeatable that if I do this toggling I can blast through the 1 week run in 30 minutes of real time.
On the other hand the strategies and indies do fine real time, but I need smooth playback.
I'm wondering if this toggle, allows the threading management process to somehow get every properly in place and sequenced. The toggling is a thing, why is another story.Last edited by Panama9878; 06-18-2024, 08:36 AM.
