Problem w/ Adding Data Series to Charts
Hi - while adding data series to my chart (both tick-based; one based on US RTH time and the other based on the Futures Market Time), the candles are plotted side by side. I changed one of the candle colors to transparent, but still, the chart looks weird (look below at 6:30 am when the NY market opens PT time). Is there a way to fix this? Like completely not show the other data series and only use it to show certain studies?

@rezamaric - I’ve had this situation before some time ago.
This may sound somewhat bizarre but iirc try ‘stretching’ the x-axis massively - and I mean massively, until you’re only showing a few bars in your chart. You might also need to change your bar width on both Data Series to 1 whilst stretched.
I don’t use the added hidden Data Series any longer due to the impact on performance but definitely experienced exactly your problem.
Good luck

Hello rezamerik,
Thank you for your post!
I would recommend the following settings for the hidden Data Series: change the Chart style to Line on Close > change the color of the chart style to Transparent by typing directly into the color drop down menu > erase the text in the Label box and leave blank > change the Panel to 1 > change Plot executions to Do not plot > OK.
Does this resolve the spacing issue?
If not, please do let me know!Kennedy M.NinjaTrader Customer Service

NinjaTrader_Kennedy those are the settings I used to use (per NT recommendations on using added Data Series) and the problem occurred with those settings.

Hello rezamerik,
I recorded a short video below of a chart with a hidden data series and I'm unfortunately not experiencing the same. Could you take a look at my settings and compare them to yours? I'd also recommend starting with a new chart to see if the issue occurs on a new chart as well. Please let me know the results of the above!Kennedy M.NinjaTrader Customer Service

Hi NinjaTrader_Kennedy! Thanks so much for recording and sharing the video. If you change the "Trading Hours" for one of the data series, you should see the problem occur! As I mentioned, I need one data series to represent the default trading hours, and the other one to show the "U.S. Securities RTH" trading session.

Hello rezamerik,
Thank you for your reply.
Yes, I'm able to reproduce this as well while using a Tick based chart with different trading hours. Unfortunately, this is expected. For example, the ETH chart might have a candle that covers 4,181 ticks from 9:03:00 to 9:04:30. Meanwhile, the RTH chart has a candle that covers from 9:02:45 to 9:04:25. Since NinjaTrader shows the candles time-based, it would now show one candle at 9:02 and one at 9:03, but each gets the next one at 9:04, so now you have this gap between the :02 and :03 candle.
I did not experience this using time-based charts, however.
Therefore, if you use a Tick chart, this is expected and cannot be changed. Otherwise, you could use a Minute chart, for example, and the spacing issue would not occur.
Please let me know if you have any questions!Kennedy M.NinjaTrader Customer Service

NinjaTrader_Kennedy thanks so much for your response! It actually makes perfect sense why the gap happens. I really appreciate you taking the time and explaining that to me. Thank you!
