    inconsistant Backtest results

OK, so I upgraded two systems from previous NT8 version and installed new NT software on two other systems.
The systems have "Win 10" or "Win 11" or "Win 2022 server" and the processors are all Intel with memory ranging from 8 to 32 gig.
Then I used the default "Sample MA Crossover" and ran it on "GBPUSD" forex data for 1/20/2023 with a lot size of 10,000.
The two systems with the new NT install had matching results BUT the systems with the upgraded NT install had very different results.

Since the upgraded NT systems were different, I tried uninstalling NT completely and reinstalling, BUT no change.

This makes it impossible to deploy my solutions, since I do all my development on an upgraded system and deploy it on a new system.
How can I do this besides completely rebuilding my development system??

The following is the summary info across the four systems:

    An "ugly" fix:
    1. uninstall NT
    2. copy you strategy code from : "C:\Users\walt\Documents\NinjaTrader 8\bin\Custom\Strategies"
    3. delete the directory "C:\Users\walt\Documents\NinjaTrader 8"
    4. run "CCleaner" and run the registry check ( free; https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/download)
    5. Delete all "ninjaTrader" entries from the check
    6. reboot
    7. reinstall NT
This is an "Ugly" fix because it nukes all data, workspaces, etc... and then you need to regen/recreate all your strategies, workspaces and reload data...

There probably is a less-destructive solution but this DOES work as now all the results show above now match.

      Hello waltFX,

      Thank you for your post.
      • Who are you connected to? This is displayed in green in the lower-left corner of the Control Center window.
        • Are you using the same connection with the same credentials for each setup?
      • Are you connected to your data feed provider when running this test?
      • Do you receive an error on the screen? Are there errors on the Log tab of the Control Center for any of these setups? If so, what do these errors report?

I am curious to know if there is a different setting somewhere between the "upgrade" and the "new" backtests. Please provide a screenshot of the backtest settings for each setup. Additionally, please right-click the Strategy Analyzer, select Properties, and check if "Use local data only" is checked or unchecked for each environment.

I appreciate your patience and look forward to your reply.

        Hello waltFX,

        Thank you for your patience.

I had not seen this response when I sent my last reply. These steps sound like you are essentially getting rid of NinjaTrader and installing it fresh again; this would not match the environment where you performed the upgrade. I am not sure what caused the behavior previously, though I would have been glad to investigate further to see if there was a different setting somewhere that was causing the different results. I am glad to hear that you were able to get the results to match. If this comes up again in the future, please don't hesitate to reach out for assistance.

        Thank you for using NinjaTrader.
