    NinjaScript Editor Properties

It seems that NT 8.0.27.1 has introduced a change whereby the Properties of a NinjaScript Editor window (an "Editor") are no longer global but particular to each individual Editor. That's fine conceptually, but that also means each new Editor now starts with NT-defined default Properties, and so each new Editor must have its Properties explicitly set to the user's preferred settings in every Editor, rather than inheriting the user's preferred settings already set in another Editor or on prior invocation of an Editor in the previous NinjaTrader session.

Can this be confirmed as changed behaviour, and if so, is it an intentional change or "inadvertent"? In either case, it is a regression if there is no way to perpetuate Editor Properties from one Editor to the next, even if one chooses to have variations in settings in different Editors.

    The "strongly preferred approach":
    • Individual Editors can have their Properties set individually
    • A new Editor started from any other Editor inherits the current Properties of the Editor that started it
    • A Global set of user-specified default Editor Properties can be defined as the default for any new Editor started other than from an existing Editor window.
    Thanks.

    Hello jeronymite,

I don't see a specific note about that in the most recent version so I am not sure if that was changed or different from it was previously. The properties menu for the editor follows the preset pattern where if you wanted default values you need to click Preset -> Save in that window. It otherwise has the system default values applied for the properties when a new window is made. If you have saved a preset then that would be used instead when you open new windows.

Thanks, NinjaTrader_Jesse. That's useful. It is definitely a change. Being a daily user of the Editor for years, it became obvious very quickly. The use of Preset provides a means of achieving the desired behaviour.

      Thanks.
