When adding a sub account in the main account Ninjatrader page, in the 'reason' section, there's a (?) about CFTC regulation 1.46 that says "a customer may not maintain more than one account for the purpose of holding open a long and short positions in the same futures or options contract". I don't know if my understanding is correct, but when I looked into it further, it seems that this condition doesn't apply to day trading. I've also read that it should be okay to do as long as the account I open for long positions only ever goes long and the same for the short account only going short. Presumably I could also then continue to manually day trade long or short positions on my initial account. Is this correct and am I okay to have multiple day trading sub accounts that may sometimes overlap being long and short?

Simultaneous long and short positions on separate sub accounts
I want to add 2 sub accounts to run my day trading strategies automatically (one for short only, one for long only), and have my main account reserved for manual long or short day trading. Within the same day, there could be overlapping times where one account is long and another is short, but all positions would always be closed within the same day.

Please send us an email at support(at)ninjatrader(dot)com with a detailed description of your request and what you are hoping to achieve, and we will make sure the right set of eyes can look it over.
