Stop recording live data when no charts are open NT 8.0.27.1 with IB

Something I've noticed with NT 8 is the market data option Record Live Data as Historical is is recording data for every position I hold at Interactive Brokers.
I want to record live data for charts I have open, but I should not be subscribing to the data or recording it for positions I hold, but never open a chart for.
E.g. Pick a random stock COIN. I have never opened a chart for this stock, but it has been recording live data for the symbol because I hold at least 1 share. How do I stop this while continuing to record live data for, say ES 03-23 and SPY for which I have charts open?
I never has this issue with NT 7, but it is hammering my data stream.

    Hello zstheorist,

    Thank you for writing in.

Unfortunately, there is no way to prevent the NinjaTrader platform from requesting the data at this time.

NinjaTrader will request a market data feed for any instrument that is being utilized within the platform. This is not specific to the Interactive Brokers Connection.
    • So even though you just have a position on an instrument and no charts open, the NinjaTrader platform is still looking at a data feed for that instrument to keep the interface updated.

You mention, "It is hammering my data stream"
    • What do you mean by this?
    • Is it taking longer than normal to load in a chart?
    • Is the workspace slow and experiencing delays?
    • Is it just using a large amount of network data?
The only way to prevent the data from coming in at all would be if you no longer held a position on the different instruments.

Otherwise, you could reduce your workspace to demand less data and resources to be able to handle the additional data series more easily.
Please let us know if we may provide any further assistance.

OK, then I guess I will ask this be added to the feature requests. It is a large amount of data across the network (every tick for 50+ instruments I hold even though I only have charts open for 5). It also counts against my ticket limit so it occasionally interacts with the TWS page loading. Anyway, a checkbox to only load data with an open chart would be nice.

        Hello zstheorist,

        Thank you for writing in.

I have submitted this as a feature request to the Development Team. I will follow up with an internal tracking number for your reference as soon as it is created.

Thanks in advance for your patience.

          Hello zstheorist,

          Thank you for your patience.

After further testing, we have found that these Historical Data files are created for the Positions if you have the "Record live data as historical" setting turned on.
          • So, the NinjaTrader platform is recording the real-time data that is running for the positions that are being held and saving that as Historical Data.
          • If you uncheck/turn off this setting, it will stop recording the Historical Data for the Positions as well.
            • Go to the Control Center > Tools > Options > Categories > Market Data > Properties > Real-time > Record live data as historical, Uncheck this box and click OK

We are still in the process of creating the feature request to be able to turn off the Historical Data for a Position specifically, but I figured I'd let you know of a Workaround for now.

Please let us know if we may provide any further assistance.
