Why is NT8 limited to 10% of RAM usage?

my NT8 is freezing
and I can see it's only using 10% of the RAM


How to allocate more RAM?
maybe just the custom indicators have this limitation?

Hello AaronKoRn,

Could it be a single logical processor reaches the maximum when you experience the freezing behavior? Please open the Windows Task Manager and select the Performance-tab. Right click in the CPU graph and select Change graph to-->Logical processors.

8. Workspaces which have a single or fewer number of instruments are unable to take advantage of multi-core processors. For example, having 30 charts with the same instrument will not perform as well as 30 charts of different instruments on a multi-core processor. Reducing the number of windows with the same instrument can increase performance.

You can experience slow and unresponsive behavior in the NinjaTrader platform if you have many workspaces, charts, indicators and other windows opened depending on market volatility as well. If market volatility increases, the same setup will need more PC resources.

The 'Calculate' setting for indicators and strategies is important. If set to 'On each tick' or 'On price change', the indicator/strategy is calculated on each incoming tick or each price change. During high volatility this can be very CPU intensive especially if the indicator/strategy makes complicated calculations. If you set it to 'On bar close', the indicator/strategy is only calculated at the end of each price bar.
