My orders won't fill if my computer goes to sleep mode or internet is disconnected

If I enter a futures trade and leave it overnight with a stop loss and profit target, neither will fill if reached when my computer goes to sleep or internet is disconnected. This has happened with simulated trades and I'm afraid of it happening with real money. Is there a way to ensure open orders close even if disconnected from Ninjatrader or if my computer goes to sleep? With a traditional broker, if I set a limit order for a stock or option it will close regardless of whether or not I am on the computer - I'm guessing there's a way to make sure that happens for Ninjatrader?

I'm about to start using an automated strategy while at work and am now very concerned about losing tons of money if I disconnect from the internet with an open order, even if it has profit targets and stop losses. Any tips are appreciated!

You let your trading computer go to sleep?
That's probably insane.
Don't do that.

If you want more assurance with regards to power uptime and
internet uptime -- and this is a very smart move -- consider running
your automated strategy on a VPS -- which is not free.

Thank you very much for your post.

First of all, it is important to understand that the Sim101 account is locally simulated within your NinjaTrader platform. If the platform is shut down or the PC is disconnected, the platform would not be able to simulate trades or perform executions.

What happens with your live orders depends on the brokerage you are with and the order type that is being submitted. Most brokerages would still execute Limit Orders; Any platform-provided feature, such as automatic strategies, Auto Trails / Auto Breakevens, or other ATM features, however, would not be available as these are not natively supported by the exchange/brokerage and require the NinjaTrader platform to actively run and be connected.

Thanks! Trying to plan for worst-case scenarios before I run strategies overnight, knowing that limit orders should still be filled gives me more peace of mind. And no - definitely wouldn't let my trading computer go to sleep with real trading, that was early with sim trades.
