8.0.27.1 - Unable to draw objects past the right side of the chart where prices are?

Is anybody else unable to draw or move their mouse past the right side of the chart while drawing in the newest version?



The right axis where prices (or chart trader) is preventing me from moving my mouse off screen to finish drawing my trend channel or any horizontal boxes. It happens with an add-on tool bar or the included NT drawing tools.


*edit* I also built a new PC at the same time with a fresh install of Windows. Still same issue.

Hello kdegale,

Can you please click and hold your left mouse button within the chart and move to the left. This will create more space between the current price bar and price axis, so you can draw the drawing object in the future.

Yep, I tried that. There's clearly something that has changed because before with .26 I could drag my mouse into the chart trader on the right, to draw into the future. Now my mouse is stopped at the chart trader & I can't draw in to the future.

Yes, this was changed in the latest version. You can still apply drawing tools in the future by first making space between the current price bar and the price axis.

You could also use the mouse scroll wheel. Please apply the first anchor point of the Trend Channel. Scroll upwards to create space between the current price bar and price axis. Then apply the 2nd anchor point in the future.

Just curious why was this changed? Is there any supposed benefit to this big change? Does .27 prevent trend channels/angled lines from moving all over the chart by themselves, especially in volatile markets?

Before version 8.0.27.1, you could not use the scroll wheel to move the chart after applying the first anchor point of a drawing tool.

Unfortunately drawing objects can be distorted in different charts. Drawing objects are drawn as per its anchor points. If you double click the drawing object to open its properties menu, you will see its anchor points under 'Data'. These should be the same in all charts.

If you look at the price scale of the drawing object, it must be exact for the anchor points to align in the same place on each chart. The anchor points for the drawing object remains the same, but the scaling of the chart itself has shifted. This causes the drawing object to appear not identical.

Just curious, has the change since 8.0.27.1 where we can no longer drag our mouse off of the screen/chart trader to draw a trend channel or line been an issue for anyone else?

The most annoying thing in NT for me ever. They probably will never fix it. Instead of using anchors, they have to use vectors (length and angle) or make some workaround so that NT changes anchors with respect to the angle line was drawn.

Another brilliant idea happened yesterday while right in the middle of a trade. A popup for upgrade to the newest version of NT........

Really, is that a smart idea to haven an upgrade message block the view of the chart or prevent someone from placing a trade or moving a stop in the middle of the session?

Luckily, I was only managing a position.
