Error messages
I'm pretty new to NT8. I'm having a couple things that are weird. The first is that after I setup a workspace and save it, randomly it will NOT open back up after restart NT8 the next day. I can sometimes "restore" the workspace but that's just a nuisance when it happens more than once. I've uninstalled, wiped all the leftover folders and files and re-installed NT8 and it hasn't seemed to help. The 2nd issue is the error message/screenshot I've attached here. Sometimes, while in SIM, I'm unable to enter any orders directly on the chart. Can't buy/sell limit or market or buy/sell stop orders. This is one of the messages I get depending on the type of order I entered. If I completely shut down NT8 and restart, then restart SIM playback, it usually works properly. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.Tags: None

Hello mchandler,
Thank you very much for your post and welcome to the NinjaTrader forum!
To assess why the workspace doesn't load, I'd like to take a closer look at your platform's log & trace files. Could you forward these to us?
You can do this by going to the Control Center -> Help -> Email Support
Please select "Platform Technical Support" as the recipient and enter a brief "ATTN Manfred" note in the message.
Regarding the error message; This occurs if an OCO ID (one-cancels-other) receives additional entries after it had already executed.
I have recently recorded a video that demonstrates what causes this error and how to avoid it, as it is better explained in a video than via text, I would suggest taking a look at this first:
World's leading screen capture + recorder from Snagit + Screencast by Techsmith. Capture, edit and share professional-quality content seamlessly.
Of course, please don't hesitate to let me know, should you have any further questions in this regard!

Manfred, I watched your video. And I understand it. However, I wasn't trying to submit more than one order. I am only using an ATM strategy that sells/buys 3 ES contracts. So all I do is make sure the ATM strategy is selected, then I right click on the chart and hit something like "Buy Limit 3 @ 3980." This is when I received the errors. When I shut down NT8 and restart, then re-enter playback mode, it seems to work fine. (maybe the OC was somehow becoming lit up and I didn't notice.) If you have any other advice, let me know. thanks. Michael

Hello mchandler,
Thank you very much for your reply!
I am not aware of a way for an ATM strategy to trigger this error, as long as everything else works as expected.
What the ATM strategy does, is that it enables the OCO flag before submitting the exit orders, then disables it again. This ensures that only either your Profit Target or Stop Loss would execute, but not both. However, as this happens internally, it should never be possible for this error to trigger solely through the ATM strategy. What might have happened is e.g. that your mouse submitted an accidental double click. This can cause unusual errors in some cases.
Should this recur, please follow the steps below, we can then track down exactly what happened:
- Take note of the Order ID this occurred on (you may find this in your Control Center under Orders or within the New > Trade Performance window)
- Click on Help > Email Support
- Submit a brief note that you received the OCO ID error and include an "ATTN Manfred" in it.
I can then take a closer look at exactly how the strategy was submitted and what might have caused this.
I look forward to your reply!
