Daily EMA not matching two other charting platforms

    Hello,

I'm looking at the daily chart and noticed the EMA does not match two other platforms - TradingView and ThinkOrSwim (which match each other).

Below you will see the same days with the 71 EMA not matching. I have not seen this difference on lower time frames.

Is it possible to get Ninja Trader to match the other platforms?

    Thank you!

My suggestion would be to compare the data series - OHLC and in particular the Closes (as most EMAs will default to Close) of the two charts. If the EMA's are different, most likely this would imply that the data is different.

If you are using NinjaTrader contuinum data feed, the close price of daily bars is changed to the “settlement” price which will generally be different than the last close price of the session. There are no options to change this on daily bars. A workaround would be to create a 1440 minute bar and use the same trading hours session template, this will create a pseudo daily bar with the same open, high, low, but will use the last close of the session.

        Hello neo302,

As iq200 and Tasker-182 mentioned, the historical daily data must be different if the EMA is different (the EMA is calculated on the historical data in the chart).

If this is due to the "settlement price" for daily bars, you can use a 1440 Minute chart as workaround as Tasker-182 suggested.

Thank you Jason, iq200 and Tasker-182!
