Create a sub-account

I had a live account to run my production strategies, is it ok to create a sub account to do a paper trading and backtesting separated from my live?.

Of course, but what do you mean by 'sub-account'?
Is that something created by your broker?

Why not use Sim101?
I mean, that's why it exists, right?

You can create additional Sim accounts,
such as Sim102, Sim103, etc, as needed.

Sim accounts can use the live data feed from
your broker, or data from market replay, thereby
simulating 'live testing' with a 'live data' feed.

Backtesting via Strategy Analyzer doesn't require
that an account be selected -- the only requirement
is the presence of historical data to do the testing.

It is possible to download all needed data ahead
of time, which means NT can be disconnected from
your data feed and the Strategy Analyzer will not be
affected -- ie, backtesting doesn't need a connection.

Otherwise, SA will download the needed historical data
from your data feed connection, presuming a connection
exists.

Hello eramosr21,

As bltdavid mentions, you can use the Sim101 account to trade in simulation. The Sim101 account is the internal simulation account of the NinjaTrader platform.

You can create additional simulation accounts at Control Center-->Accounts-tab. Please right click in the Control Center-->Accounts-tab and select 'Add Simulation Account'.

When you backtest in the Strategy Analyzer, it will use the 'Backtest' account automatically (which can only be used in the Strategy Analyzer).

If you use the Playback connection, you will trade the Playback101 account automatically (which can only be used with the Playback connection).
