Trade VIX futures (VX, VXM)

Hello,

I have an automated strategy that I like to start trading VIX futures with (VX, VXM). What broker options do I have with NT8 to accomplish this?

I have NT brokerage and TD Ameritrade brokerage, however, I cannot trade VX futures with either.

Hi eleven, Please go to the NinjaTrader Control Center, go to Tools>Instruments>Search VIX> Double click the VX futures instrument. In this window there will be a list of the symbol mappings. All the listed connections that have a symbol mapping will support the VIX futures instrument.

I have the VX data feed already, I just cannot place trades since VX trades are not support by NT Brokerage. What broker options do I have if I want to place trades with an NT automated strategy.

I have TD Ameritrade, but I cannot trade futures using NT automated strategy. Is IB the only option to trade VX futures using NT?

Hi eleven, The Interactive Brokers connection would be the only one you can trade VX futures from.

Hi,
I'm trying to see data for VIX1D that was launched back in the spring. I have my continuum and TD Ameritrade connections active but I cannot see data for this instrument. What could I do to solve this problem?

This is SUPER helpful... Except it doesn't seem accurate... VX and VIX are both listed as being supported by Continuum yet there is no option for me to add that to my data feed...
Is this the case NinjaTrader_ChrisL ?

Hello brenthilburn,

The instrument type is supported with continuum connections and with the NinjaTrader connection type, however this may or may not be available with your specific broker.

With the NinjaTrader connection, there is historical data available for this instrument so you can open a chart of historical data with the VX 09-23, however the NinjaTrader Brokerage does not support the VX future so you will not be able to subscribe to real-time data or trade this instrument with NinjaTrader Brokerage.
