Hello Carlos,
Thank you for your message.
It is not possible to go both long and short at the same time in Futures trading. Having both a long and short order fill on your account will simply flatten the position. If you are looking to place a Buy and Sell order and have the other automatically canceled after the other is filled, you can do this using the OCO functionality (One Cancels the Other).
For clarification, OCO (One Cancels the Other) functionality will allow you to place a set of orders that, once one Fills, will automatically cancel the others in that group.
You will be able to enable/disable OCO Order pairs by right-clicking in the Chart Trader, SuperDOM, or any Order Entry Window. You may also use Ctrl + z to quickly toggle the option on and off as well.
Note that it is crucial to disable the OCO function after placing an OCO pair to avoid an error message, as it will allow the platform to generate new OCO IDs for new OCO pairs. It will also avoid attaching the old OCO ID to other independent orders you are placing.
To turn off OCO, right-click in your Order Entry window (SuperDOM, Chart Trader, etc.) and uncheck/disable 'OCO Order'.
NinjaTrader 8 Help Guide — Understanding OCO Orders
Note from the Help Guide: "After placing two orders within the same OCO group, it is important to disable OCO functionality before submitting any other orders. If you wish to place another set of OCO orders immediately after placing an initial set, first disable, then re-enable OCO before placing the second set of orders. This will generate a new OCO ID, rather than adding the new orders to an existing OCO group."
Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
Sincerely,
Justin D.

Hello Carlos19,
Thank you for your response.
If these strategies are running on the same Instrument and Account, they will interfere with each other and order fills between each window would lead to unexpected and possibly confusing Position changes. There is no way to have both a Short and a Long position on the same Instrument and Account. If each of these windows have a different instrument or account, they will be considered separate positions that will not interfere with one another.
Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
Sincerely,
Justin D.
