    Reinstalling NT8 a good procedure without reinstalling everything.

    Today NinjaTrader 8.06.0 64bits decided not to load any data, last time I used it was a month ago without issues. The symbol I am loading is MES 12-22
    It connects without issues but it stays forever, 2am PST saying loading data.I am attaching the log file as you maybe able to tell me why
    but I also prefer to reinstall it.
    Since I don't want to get crazy reinstalling all indicators I wander what is the best procedure?
    With Ninjatrader7 I was just restoring the directory NinjaTrader 7 under documents and everything came back as I had it prior reinstallation.
    Can I safely sue the same procedure with Ninjatrader 8?

    Thank you for your post.


    Within your log file I see that there is a connectivity issue.

    The first thing I would recommend doing is shutting down NinjaTrader, restarting your computer and restarting your modem/router.

    If you have an antivirus/firewall installed you will want to add NinjaTrader to its exceptions list.



    I also see that you're using an older version of NinjaTrader 8 (under Help>About you can see what release you are using).

    The latest release is 8.0.26.1.

    Before updating the platform, please export a backup file with your settings, by going to NinjaTrader 8>Control Center>Tools>Export>Backup File. Please follow this link for more details: https://ninjatrader.com/support/helpGuides/nt8//backup__restore.htm

    To update NinjaTrader, please follow the steps below:
    • First, copy your license key from NinjaTrader under Help> License Key then exit NinjaTrader
    • Click on the link: https://ninjatrader.com/PlatformDirect
    • Enter your license key and press Submit
    • Select 'Download'
    • Critical: Before running the installer, ensure NinjaTrader is closed.


    Then reset instruments, following steps below.
    1. First, disconnect from any data providers by navigating to the Control Center > Connections menu, and left-click on “disconnect” that appears to the right when hovering your mouse over any active connection
    2. Next, reset your instruments by navigating to the Control Center > Tools > Database Management
    3. In the Database Management window, left click on "Rollover"
    4. Under the “Update instruments” section, ensure that “General properties”, "Futures expiries" and “Symbol mappings” options are checked and then click Update
    5. Lastly, restart NinjaTrader for the changes to occur

      Yes it works in 8 as in 7, if you have a reason to do so in future

        Thank you for all your answers, including Bruce's.
        Few hours later everything was working ok. Is there a way to know if the connection was lost because of an issue on the server side rather than mine?
        I rebooted the computer between the two operations and I have no way to tell if the issue was on my side or Ninja's, it could be useful to quickly see it in the future.
