    Trouble with selecting an instrument

    Hi NT8,

I am having trouble selecting a current instrument from when I pull up a chart. On the snapshot (1), when I try to select the instrument (where it says 'select') I cannot drop down the menu (nothing happens on click) and when I type in an instrument such as NQ 12-22 (snapshot 2), it says that the instrument is invalid. I tried repairing NT (through the Repair option on install) and I also tried full re-install of NT. Please help.

    Hello Todd,

To search for an instrument using the Instrument Selector, type the symbol or the description 'like gold or S&P'.

Below is a link to a video.

To show the recently used instruments and the instrument lists, click the down facing arrow to the right of the instrument selector.

NQ 12-22 would be a valid instrument for a futures brokerage connection. Who are you connected to, showing a green dot, in the Connections menu of the Control Center?

      Hi Chelsea,

I am connected to NinjaTrader Continuum Live connection with a link to my live-funded account with a lifetime license. I saw the whole video just now, but it is all very basic info, I have been using NT for several years and am very familiar with how to select for instruments from the Chart menu. I am saying that yesterday it was working normally just as the video showed, but today I can't select instruments or they say that valid ones (like NQ 12-22) are invalid as in the snapshot.

        Hello Austiner87,

To confirm, you are clicking the down facing arrow to the right of the instrument selector and the instrument lists are not appearing?

Or you are typing in the instrument selector NQ and no search results are appearing?

With the invalid symbols, please try resetting instruments.
        • Click Tools -> Database Management -> 'Update instruments' section
        • Check Future expiries
        • Also check Remove user added instruments
        • Click Update

        Does this correct the error?

Have you accidently created another instrument using the same symbol mapping? (Is there an NQ equity in the Instruments window?)
