Free License with funded account

Hey,

I see that it's possible to use Ninjatrader free license with a funded account. However, is this only possible for those with Ninja Brokerage? I'm looking to use OneUpTrader which is a funded program and they said that they offer a free license during the evaluation, but once funded we have to get a license. Isn't it possible to use the free license that NT advertises even once their program funds an account?

I don't think Apex or Leeloo have that requirement.

That is, after you pass your evaluation phase, both Apex
and Leeloo allow you to use their license key to trade your
funded account. See here, here, and here.

The difference (to us, the trader) is mostly semantics.

Technically, Apex and Leeloo usually call their funded
accounts a 'performance' account -- because under the
hood the orders may be simulated or sent to the exchange.
You're not supposed to care, since you are guaranteed
to be paid whatever profits you generate (even if those
profits came due a simulated trade).

By calling it 'performance based compensation' -- which
is based upon on well you trade in your 'performance'
account -- you get to use their NinjaTrader license key,
saving you the expense of purchasing your own.

I think Bulenox does the same thing.

Be aware, using the prop broker supplied license key
may come with some limitations. For ex, 1) the license
key supplied will be single broker based 2) tied to Rithmic
only, and 3) may not support a few of the premium indicators,
such as the OrderFlow Suite.

You should contact your prop firm directly and inquire
about the opportunities to use their NinjaTrader license
key for both your evaluation and funded account -- and
ask what limitations does using their license key impose
upon your use of NinjaTrader.

And, no, you are not required to have a NinjaTrader
Brokerage account in order to use the free NinjaTrader
license key supplied by Apex, Leeloo, or Bulenox.

Note sure about TopStep or OneUpTrader.

Are you talking about connecting to Rithmic via login credenials
supplied by a prop firm?

Did you follow instructions about those Rithmic documents you
have to first agree to -- I mean, this initial step requires you
download/install RTrader/Pro and login into RTrader/Pro and
agree to two different documents -- did you do that?

It's a one time step you must do for each Rithmic-based
prop firm you sign up with.

These types of services sound fishy to me "under the hood the orders may be simulated"

They are simulated only until they see you can consistently profit. If you are funded you will get paid regardless so there is minimal risk for you.

You pay $100 for an evaluation for a 50k funded account. You make $3000 in profits on the account. Now they give you a funded account with 50k. If you profit $10,000 in the next 3 months you can withdraw with a 90/10 split. You pull out 9k and they keep 1k. All you risked was the $100 for the evaluation.

Fishy or not, it is the most basic risk/reward scenario.
