Simulated orders don't trigger if platform shut down?

I left simulated orders on overnight and closed the platform - I woke to see my levels hit and the orders still there - do sim orders not trigger if the platform is closed?

Thank you for your post.

When trading in the simulation account all orders are held locally on your PC as opposed to at the Exchange or on a brokers server therefore for an execution to be triggered NinjaTrader must be open and connected.
