Trade in opposite direction without canceling current trade?
I'm testing being in a long position and then going short but that cancels out my current long position is there a way around that?Tags: None

Hello MatthewLesko,
Thanks for your note.
It is not possible to place a Long entry order and Short entry order on the same instrument and same account at the same time.
NinjaTrader does not support hedging.
If you place a Long entry order, then place a Short entry order, the Short entry order will cause the Long entry order to sell and you will end up in a flat position. If you were in a Long position and placed 2 Short entry orders, 1 order would sell the Long position and you would end up in a position of 1 Short.
To truly have an open long account position and an open short account position on the same instrument (instead of a net flat account position), this would require placing trades to two different accounts. One account to hold a long position, the other account to hold a short position.
See this forum thread post for detailed information: https://ninjatrader.com/support/foru...tures-contract
