    Interactive Brokers Data Connection but no historical data shown on charts

    Hi,

    I recently connected my broker (Interactive Brokers) with ninjatrader for live market data, but it seems it is not working.

    The moment the connection is stablished it only shows the actual candles, but any historical data is shown.


    Maybe can you guys assiste me?

    Hello Maliboo,

    Thank you for your post.

    Please make sure to use the 981.3i version of TWS or IB Gateway, listed in our Connection Guide as other versions may have unintended results.
    Please also make sure you are on the latest version of NinjaTrader — 8.0.26.1 (Help>About).

    To update NinjaTrader, please follow the steps below:
    • First, copy your license key from NinjaTrader under Help> License Key then exit NinjaTrader
    • Click on the link: https://ninjatrader.com/PlatformDirect
    • Enter your license key and press Submit
    • Select 'Download'
    • Critical: Before running the installer, ensure NinjaTrader is closed.

    Please connect in the IB Trader’s Workstation first and then connect in the NinjaTrader, by going to Control Center>Connect and selecting your IB connection.

    Then open a new 1 minute MNQ 09-22 chart without templates or indicators. You can also right click within the chart and select 'Reload all available data'.


    If you continue to experience the same, please send us your log and trace files so that we may look into what occurred.

    You can do this by going to the Control Center-> Help-> Email Support

    Ensuring 'Log and Trace Files' is checked will include these files. This is checked by default.

      Hi Oxana!

      Thank you for your quick answer.

      I made all steps you advise and I think I have the problem.

      If I have the chart with Renko candles, I cannot "Reload all historical Data" (looks grey) So when I close Ninjatrader, it shows a gap in the chart when I was not online, and it seems Ninja cannot load this past candles from IB

      However if I have the normal candles chart, I can "Reload all historical Data" with no problem at all.

      The problem is I do not work with regular candles, only with Renko.

      Do you guys know why it is happening? Is there any workaround?

      EDIT: Forgot to mention it does not happen with CONTINUUM connection, I can reload the historical data with Renko bars

        Hello Maliboo,

        Thank you for the note.

        Since IB does not offer historical tick data, you would have to rely on the real-time data processing to build the Renko bars.
        You might want to consider using a provider such as Kinetick to supplement your tick data.
