    FXCM account status

    Hello,

    With an FXCM account (live), the account tab doesn't seem to update some items properly, and some are not updated. For instance, the margin columns are all reading zero with live positions on. For Total daily P&L, I have noticed that it shows a value, but if you exit and re-load the platform, this value can change. It is not correct if you exit and re-load the platform. Is this a limitation of the platform(s) ?

    btw - I have verified that, during a trade, in the account status on their website, it shows all the margin numbers, excess, etc., all as expected. It is also possible to be left with an 'unrealized' P&L, even when flat. This happened to me today.

    Thanks.

    Hello isfeec,

    Thank you for your inquiry.

    The values that are visible on the 'Accounts' tab are transmitted directly by your broker through the API that your provider uses to connect to NinjaTrader. Different brokers and connections have different levels of support for the various columns and various different methods for how frequently they update those values. With FXCM, the only supported columns are the 'Cash Value' column and the 'Realized PnL' column so it would be expected that the margin columns would not populate. You may view a breakdown of the supported columns at the link below;

    As far as your Unrealized PnL persisting after closing your position, I do not experience the same behavior with my FXCM test connection. As soon as I exit the position, the value returns to 0. It sounds like something may be getting stuck in the database. I'd suggest repairing your database to see if the issue persists after. To do this;
    • Disconnect NinjaTrader from any open connections via Control Center > Connections > Disconnect
    • From the NinjaTrader Control Center window select the menu Tools > Database Management
    • Click on 'Repair DB'
    • Press the "Repair" button
