Nt 8.0 Scaling - Tick chart

    Hello,

Looking from advice on how to maintain a default (tick) chart view. Here is what I am attempting (and not succeeding)

    1. Start NT 8.0 .
    2. Tick Chart does not look ok..
    3. I adjust the view by moving the X and Y axis, till the market appears the way i want. (bar length, spacing etc) .( F appears on the top right corner of chart)
    4. Next I save the workspace. and restart NT..
    5. After restart, the chart appears as I expected ( F is still displayed on the top right corner.) This is default Chart view I want to see everytime..

To change the view of my chart temporarily while I am trading, I would adjust the X/Y axis. Once I am done, I want to revert back to the view as it appeared in step 5 above. Clicking on F returns the chart to a view that was in step 2.

Is there a way to accompish what I need without manually going thru the adjustment process all over again, every time I change the last saved view of my chart?

    TIA.

    Hello j4trdr,

Thank you very much for your post.

The way NinjaTrader 8 handles scaling, is that it will shrink the chart until all items that are set to "Auto Scale" appear on it. This could be a data series, an indicator, or even a drawing object.

Most commonly, this issue occurs if you have one of the above that is far outside the current price, as the chart would then scale to include both.

E.g. if you chart an instrument that currently trades at 1,100 points, and include an indicator that displays between -30 and +30, the chart would then have to include all values from -30 to +1,100 on the same chart, essentially pinning the data series to the top of the chart.

To give you a better idea of how this behaves and where to find this option, please take a look at the video I've recorded below on this subject a few days ago:

Thank you very much Manfred!! I wouldnt have thought of it. I have removed the auto scale option from all indicators, data series and drawing objects. Looks like it solved my problem. If I face anymore issues, I will post here,

Hi Manfred, In your video, you removed auto scale from the indicator as well as a drawing object. After the 0:36 secs mark, the screen appears with just the candle sticks shown and no "F" at the top right edge. So far so good. I want to go a step further. Using x and y axis, I want to adjust the screen that shows the candle sticks so that they clearly show the market structure. When I do that the "F" notation appears on the top right edge. I save the chart and restart, and I see my bar chart displayed with the settings I wanted (with "F" appearing again). BUT, if i click on the "F", the display reverts to the way it was PRIOR to the adjustments I made. I want "F" to set the view to the way it was POST Adjustment. Any subsequent adjustment should show "F"Is there a way to accomplish that? I hope I was able to explain what I need.

          Hello j4trdr,

Thank you very much for your reply.

Unfortunately, I am not aware of a way to accomplish this. While you can preset details such as the amount of time/data covered in a manually-scaled chart, pressing the "F" would always return the chart to the automatic scale, at which point the platform would ensure that any data that has "Auto Scale" enabled is included.

If you would like to manually set the range, please right-click the vertical price scale and select "Properties", before setting the chart range to "Fixed":
