    NT8 not responding/freezing

    Hello,
    I have latest NT8 and 981. 3i TWS

    I insttalled both to dedicated server.
    Most of the time when i run strategy analyzer or installing strategies to chart it takes too much time and/or Ninjatrader freezing.
    When i checked to task manager it shows that NT is not responding
    Cpu around 20-25% level during that time

    (I reloaded 8 years 1 minute data from Kinetick) strategy analyze use that data.

    Dedicated server. specs are;
    8 core Cpu, 8 gb ram, 64 bit operating system, .net downloaded

    I want to analyze long period of continous contract.how can i make faster analyze and eliminate not responding?

    Hi Murphy, thanks for posting. The strategy analyzer can take up a lot of memory. The garbage collector does not run for performance purposes, so first test by reducing the amount of data you are backtesting and see if the test completes then. Incrementally increase the backtest data range to find the maximum data range you can test. VPS services also have a tendency to throttle the CPU until more demand is needed. We generally do not recommend backtesting with a VPS. This is a job better suited for real hardware with 16-64GB of RAM.

    Kind regards,
    -ChrisL

      Hello ChrisL,

      Thank you, you are right it was running faster on my desktop vs server.
      I trade on server, backtest on desktop.
      But, I made all my strategies setting on server.
      My desktop NT8 is old now. How can i fully uninstall desktop NT8, and copy (install) server NT8 to desktop.
      So, i can keep all my strategy and setting without losing.

        By the way, missed the key point;
        If i have active strategy running on server without closing it,
        Can i backtesting on my desktop hardware. License will be issue?

          Hi Murphy67, thanks for your reply.

          You can make a backup file, then move that file over to your desktop and import the backup the copy the config file and scripts over to your desktop:

          Kind regards,
