Drawing objects freezing my chart
Today I triad change the fib ratios in the fib retracement tool and I am getting constant errors in the log. My chart freezes up and the error keeps repeating itself until I close the program. The same error occurs if I then try to edit the drawing object again after reopening the program. I also tried deleting the drawing object and trying again but the same error occurs. Any ideas how I can fix this? This is the latest NT8 version by the way.

We have many with freeze errors after the recent update as well. We never had any of these problems prior to the update to 8.0.26.0. The freezing started immediately after that update. I am attaching the error and trace logs we have encountered.

We have had a couple of people roll back to the previous version and the freezing issue goes away. There is no doubt that something in the most recent update of NT changed and that has started the freezing issues. It happens with almost any of the custom indicators, so it's not indicator specific either.

Thank you for your post.
Please note that we do not advise running older versions of NinjaTrader as we will not be able to troubleshoot older versions.
First we will want to determine if these messages are being caused due to a custom add-on or the base NinjaTrader platform.
To do this we will want to use Safe Mode.
So we can further diagnose your system, please start NinjaTrader in Safe Mode.
Safe Mode will prevent NinjaTrader from:- Loading workspaces.
- Connecting on start-up.
- Loading custom assemblies.
- Getting instrument updates from the server.
To enable safe mode, please use the following steps:- Exit NinjaTrader.
- Hold the CONTROL key and double click the NinjaTrader icon.
- Keep the CONTROL key held down until you see the Control Center.
- You can verify you are in safe mode by going to Help -> About.
Once in Safe Mode please connect, and then close your workspace under the Control Center > Workspaces > hover your mouse over your workspace and select 'close'. Do Not Save
Then please reopen your workspace to populate your windows without any custom add-ons.
Are you able to replicate this message/behavior while in Safe Mode?

I would also like to report that when I update the properties of Fib retracement, NT 8.0.26.1 freezes. Also after I shut down, and attempt to restart, I get an error that NT was unable to recover NT custom assembly. I opened the task manager after I closed NT and see that the program is still active. I have to kill the task before I can start NT again.

I would recommend folks to hold off on upgrading to the newer release. When attempting to install previous release, NT warns that the current database is configured for a newer VERSION of ninja trader 8. If the user elects to reset, NT will remove all historical data , active strategies, journal entries etc.....

I have been noticing that when changing the properties of drawing objects, the chart freezes. In particular, the text drawing object freezes the screen every time I try to update any property after I have entered the text. Steps to reproduce the error.
1. Enter a text. Press Enter
2. Double click the text to change the color font to something different.
3. Click ok. Screen freezes
NT Version 8.0.26.1 64-bit

I just attempted to reproduce this problem using the steps provided but am unable to. I've provided a video to demonstrate;

Often, when standard platform features fail to work as expected, it is due to introduction of a certain third party add-on. We can test this by using Safe Mode. Does this issue occur for you in Safe Mode?
Safe Mode will prevent NinjaTrader from:- Loading workspaces.
- Connecting on start-up.
- Loading custom assemblies.
- Getting instrument updates from the server.
- Exit NinjaTrader.
- Hold the CONTROL key and double click the NinjaTrader icon.
- Keep the CONTROL key held down until you see the Control Center.
- You can verify you are in safe mode by going to Help -> About.
- Reconnect to your data provider from the 'Connections' menu
- Please open a new chart with no custom bar types/indicators/templates and test for issues.
- Please note this will not delete your workspace however the new blank workspace will be named Untitled. If you have a workspace already named "Untitled," however, you will not want to save the workspace when exiting NinjaTrader, otherwise, it will overwrite it.

I have been getting the following error off and on for over a year: I have also seen many other forum posts where others have gotten the same error but did not see any resolution.
