Indicator window opens off screen

    Indicator window opens off screen

    When right clicking on the chart and opening the indicator window - it opens off screen all the time - no matter what I try - changing the resolution on the screen temporarily fixes it but reopening after changing the resolution back will result in the same behavior.

    tried deleting the _workspaces file and the UI.xml file as well. Nothing seems to work other than the resolution changing.

    Do you mind including a screenshot of the behavior that you are referring to so that I can get a better idea of what's occurring?
    • To send a screenshot with Windows 10 or newer I would recommend using the Windows Snipping Tool.
    • Alternatively to send a screenshot press Alt + PRINT SCREEN to take a screenshot of the selected window. Then go to Start--> Accessories--> Paint, and press CTRL + V to paste the image. Lastly, save it as a jpeg file and send the file as an attachment.

      Kind of hard to capture the behavior when you cant see the dialog pane to begin with...


      However here is the display arrangement:

      Basically ANY chart that is on monitor 4 - when right clicking and going to Indicators will 'open' the indicators dialog window BUT it is always off screen located in the Top Left corner - the only way to get it to come back is to change the resolution of the 4th screen.

      It is not displayed in the ALT TAB manager - nor in task manager.

        Thank you for your reply.

        What is the resolution of the monitor that you have assigned to 4? Is it High Resolution (4K, QHD, UHD, etc.)? Feel free to tell me the exact brand and definition of the monitor you are using that has the issue so I can research it.

        If you rearrange the monitors, does this issue affect when a different monitor is assigned to 4 or is it a specific hardware that exhibits this issue regardless of where it's assigned?

          all of them are 4K resolution.

          rearranging the monitors so that 2 is below 3 'fixes' the issues. it is only when 2 is above 3 that this issue occurs. It has been exhibited multiple times - different hardware vendor of the monitors and of the video cards.

            4K monitors are not technically supported with NinjaTrader 8, and can sometimes result in a variety of unexpected scaling issue. That's not to say that it will always result in issues and many people do run NinjaTrader 8 on 4K monitors, but there are certainly cases where issues arise as a result of the use of the unsupported resolution. Changing the resolution would definitely be a solution that we would recommend in this case.

            You may also be able to change some of the High DPI settings for the application to correct the issue. To change the high DPI settings for an application, you may right-click the application, select Properties, select the Compatibility tab. From the 'Compatibility' tab, select 'Change High DPI settings'. From there, you can select 'Override high DPI scaling behavior' and choose to have the scaling performed by the application. Once you've chosen your preferred setting, you may select Apply and OK and launch NinjaTrader.
