    How to: ATM Stop's as LMT for trading Equities in Pre/Post Market??

    Hi,

    I am trading from NT Chart Trading using ATM Strategies.

    I am trading equities in the premarket using IB Paper Account as a testing base.

    My ATM orders are going in as Sell STP, which are of course not supported in pre/post market trading.

    I have experimented with [Chart Trader][Properties] -> Pre defined stop limit offset
    And-
    [Chart Trader][ATM Strategy] ->Stop Limit for Stop Loss

    So far, the ATM orders are still going through at Sell STP orders.

    If i right click on the chart and manually place a Sell Stop Limit order, it does work successfully, and is showing in TWS as STP LMT order.

    Any ideas appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

    Hello gaz0001,

    Thank you for your inquiry.

    That would be the expected behavior. The 'Stop Limit for Stop Loss' is exclusively for use with futures instruments and will automatically be disabled for equities and forex instruments I'd advise using manual OCO orders instead to bracket the position.

    This may be achieved by using manually placed OCO orders. To achieve this, you'd follow the steps below;
    • Right-click on your order entry window
    • Select OCO Order
    • Enter your limit order
    • Enter your stop limit order
    • Right-click on your order entry window
    • Deselect OCO Order
      • Critical: The 'OCO Order' option must always be disabled after placing both of the orders. If you leave this option on after placing both orders, you will begin to get order rejections and errors on any subsequent orders that you place.
    I've also included a video demonstration of this process from the link below;

      Thanks for the reply

      I understand how to create OCO manually.

      This is not really a very usable solution for the premarket trades.

      It also kinda completely removes ATM function too.

      I can't imagine that it would take so much work to have those STP LMT orders working.
      Are you able to raise it with your team as a feature enhancement request?
      I can't be the only person who would find this very useful?

      Thanks In advance.

        Hello gaz0001,

        Thank you for your reply.

        I was simply trying to offer you an alternative since this is a well documented limitation when using ATM Strategies with equities or forex. If you've ever had a chance to look at our help guide, this is explicitly noted on the 'Advanced Options' page at the bottom. I've included a link for your reference;

        There is an open feature request for this with a couple of votes on it. I will add yours to this request as well. The tracking number for this request is STF-3711. As with all feature requests, interest is tracked before implementation is considered, so we cannot offer an ETA or promise of fulfillment. If implemented, it will be noted in the Release Notes page of the Help Guide.
