Using Chart Lag time from the ecosystem ... I am running a consistent 8 tenths of a second difference with no indicators being run.

Is this a normal observation for others?

No, a constant -00.800 ms is very high. Under -00.100 ms is normal. Usually a high constant lag indicates that the computer clock needs to be synchronized with a time server. Best practice is to automate time server synch, to synch several times a day.

I would concur with Lancer here - most likely the PC clock needs to be synchronized.

Please use the steps below to sync the PC clock:

• Shutdown NinjaTrader
• Right-click the clock in the lower right corner of your desktop
• Select Adjust date/time
• For Windows 10 click 'Date, Time, and regional formatting' -> Then click 'Additional date, time, and regional settings' -> then click 'Set the time and date'
• Select the 'Internet Time' tab at the top
• Set the server to time.nist.gov and then click Update.
• If the message that appears says successful your PC clock should now be updated.
• If not, select a different server from the Server: drop-down and try again (repeat until one of the servers is successful)

After updating the PC clock, please restart NinjaTrader, then right-click the chart and select Reload All Historical Data.

Would a 0.200 or 0.250 delay be average for users?

I know NT has the issue of having the 250ms refresh rate.
I am using tick refresh set to 75ms

A useful alternative to using the default Windows clock sync settings is to run Dimension4, a good piece of freeware that keeps the system clock in sync regularly and uses a wide selection of time servers to ensure it always has an available server. Just FYI.

The millisecond differential varies per workspace configuration, running scripts, tracked markets, incoming data (frequency of price changes and trades due to time of day, news, big orders, institutional buy/sell programs), etc. All user workspaces are different, and there is no collection of user lag data that I know of, so impossible to say what is average. I'd say you are doing really well if during extended hours (low activity) you are seeing -0.100 ms or less, and if during regular hours (high activity) you are very infrequently in the orange (>= -0.300 ms) or red (>= -1.00 ms), and only momentarily. Right now it is extended hours with not much going on, and on one PC I have -0.50 to -0.150 ms for NQ and on another with a little lighter workspace I have -0.005 to -0.70 ms for NQ. During regular hours though, or busy times in extended hours, it is a whole different story and lag can be in the red frequently, or for such a period of time that NinjaTrader is effectively unusable, requiring a switch to a lower activity market.

I find Dimension 4 to be an excellent approach to maintaining system time very close to real time. Set and forget. Free and very effective.
