    Hello envylia1012,

    Thank you for your post.

    Generally, when NinjaTrader will not open, it is because some necessary system files have inadvertently been removed. This can either be by the user directly or by PC cleanup software. Before we proceed with a full uninstall/reinstall, let's perform a repair of the platform. To do this;
    1. In the search box on the Windows taskbar, type Control Panel and select it from the results.
    2. Select Programs > Programs and Features.
    3. Locate NinjaTrader 8 on the list, right-click on it and select Repair, or if that’s not available, select Change. Then follow the directions on the screen.
After completing the steps above, launch NinjaTrader 8.

Does the issue persist after running the repair?

        Hello envylia1012,

        Thank you for your reply.

Since that is the case, let's try again with a completely new installation. This will help us determine whether it's your user files that are causing the problem or if something on your PC is blocking the program from running altogether.

Please follow the steps listed below to completely uninstall and reinstall NinjaTrader.
        • Close all running applications.
        • Navigate to your Documents folder > Right-click on the 'NinjaTrader 8' folder > Rename > rename the folder to 'NinjaTrader 8 OLD'. DO NOT delete this folder.
        • Uninstall NinjaTrader within Windows Control Panel.
        • Navigate to C:\ > Program File (x86) > Delete the 'NinjaTrader 8' folder if it exists
        • Reboot your PC.
        • Once these steps are completed, download and install NT8 from the link below:
Are you able to launch the platform when you use a brand new installation?

what do you do with the "OLD" folder once you reinstall everything? Have the same issue and it has came up but don't know what to do with the OLD folder you instructed to create.
          Thanks in advance.

I don't know if it's right or wrong, but I copy all of the FOLDERS only out of the old one and paste them over the same folders in the new folder that is created. Then I delete the old folder. This is the only way I could figure out how to preserve my custom indicators and strategies. I have done it several times and it works.

so I open the OLD folder the copy every single folder in it, then drag them in the new folder? is this correct?

There are a few files in the NinjaTrader folder, so I highlight and copy the FOLDERS in the old folder, then highlight the FOLDERS in the new folder and paste the old ones in. Towards the end when it asks if I want to replace files with the same name I reply NO. Hope this helps

For me, the issue was with OneDrive. Windows 11 + OneDrive now defaults to storing your Documents folder on OneDrive. When you turn off the setting to clone the Documents folder, it deletes the contents of your Documents folder (you know, because it's reasonable to assume a user wants to delete his Documents folder if he doesn't store them on OneDrive). Thankfully, it gives a convoluted warning when you make the change in OneDrive, so I made a copy of my NT8 folder before accepting. NT8 then wouldn't start. After restoring my copied NT8 folder, NT8 starts once more.

Is there a way to tell NT where to keep the NT8 folder normally stored in Documents? I'd rather store it on a separate drive, and Win11 + OneDrive is now disagreeable (by default, at least) to the default storage location.

Conversely, you could update your installation instructions for turning off OneDrive storage of the Documents folder before NT8 gets installed.
