interactive brokers how to get bars less than minute

Hi, I have Ninja Trader 64 bit 8.0.25.0 and IB workstation Build 10.12.2h. and IB TWS API_Version=10.14.02.

I am able to create a chart with one minute bars (prices), but I am not able to get anything finer, such as a 5 second bar. I select the drop down for time to change the times.

Any suggestions?

This is, unfortunately, expected with the newest TWS version. Interactive Brokers changed the way the API behaves, which makes newer versions incompatible.

To resolve this, please install the supported TWS or Gateway version, 981.3i. You may find a download for this version below:

Regarding a 5-second chart; Please know that Interactive Brokers does not provide historical bars smaller than 1-minute through the API. This means a 1-minute chart would receive historical data, a 5-second chart would only receive real-time data.
