is there a free third party indicator which allows you to color the areas bounded by a trendchannel or range to make it stand out on the chart?

I am not aware of any free versions in our User App Share that would accomplish this.

There might be a third-party vendor that offers this indicator. Alternatively, I would not expect it to be one difficult to program.
