    ES rolled over to 06-22, how to move it back?

    This morning there was a alert box and I just checked it without thinking, well it rolled over my ES chart to 06-22, i was watching the chart at open and wondering why it was dead.
    Well now I know it should be at 03-22. Why the f would it rollover 2 weeks before. Like cmon.

    Anyway I cant seem to roll it back to 03 so I can actually trade.

    Help needed.

    Hello gazuby,

    Thank you for your inquiry.

    We base our roll over dates off of the dates suggested by the CME. March 10th is the date that the CME has suggested on their website, which is why we've programmed our roll over for that date. You may view these dates on the CME website at the link below;

    CME Group Equity Index futures allow market participants to roll their futures positions from one quarterly futures contract month to the next at any time they choose. Learn more.

    Considering the volatility of everything this year, much of the volume has not shifted over as it normally would. For now, I'd suggest rolling back to the 03-22 contract for a few days to allow time for the volume to transition. To do this;
    • Go to Tools > Instruments
    • Search 'ES'
    • Once located, select it with a left-click and select 'edit'
    • Scroll down to the Contract Months section
    • Select 'Edit roll overs'
    • Locate 06-22 on the left-hand side and select it with a left-click
    • Change the Rollover Date to another date in the future prior to the expiration (I chose a couple of days from now 03/13, but you may choose any date that you want prior to settlement)
    • Select Apply and OK
    • Select Close to exit the window
    I've included a video to demonstrate that process above;

    World's leading screen capture + recorder from Snagit + Screencast by Techsmith. Capture, edit and share professional-quality content seamlessly.

    Once you've changed the roll over date, you will then need to go to each window and switch back to the 03-22 contract. It should be easy to do this by either simply typing ES 03-22 or locating it in your recent instruments at the top of the list. I've included a video demonstration of this as well;

    Please let us know if we may assist you any further.

        Gazing,
        the core deficiency here is the fact that NT rollovers are based on dates, when the preferable method which would do away with the problem - as other platforms offer - is to base rollovers on volume.

        There are threads and feature requests several years old going back to NT7 on here & NT fail/refuse to tackle it.

        You raise it - ‘here’s a problem….’
        answer - ‘that’s because we use CME dates (like because they’re CME dates gives some sort of legitimacy to the flawed action of using them when there’s a better way adopted by competitors & requested by users)’
        here’s what unnecessary work you have to do to fix it
        - ooh, thanks, it worked

        Knowing this, I deselected stock indices (others did roll based on volume).
        It still rolled them - Minute and Tick charts & DOMs, but not Second charts.

        It’s pathetic, as is NT’s denial/refusal to address. Search the Forum -you’ll see.

        FYI - it might help you to know that rather than ****ing around custom modifying the rollover date, If you just type ES 03-22 you’ll get the chart you want back.

        FYI - there is an add on called Rollovers developed by NT which displays the upcoming rollover date in the chart header & does the Rollover date edit automatically

        FYI - to compare volume for rollover use Market Analyser.

        Or, NT could just effing fix it rather than denial, avoidance, defensiveness, arrogance. But show zero acceptance, acknowledgement etc etc etc etc.

        There’s a Feature Request open that you could ask for your vote to be added to hahahahaha
