    Multi Threading

Would the SuperDom connected to ES be on the same thread as ES charts or is the SuperDom on a separate thread?

    Thanks

    Hello mlprice12,

    Thank you for your message.

You will be viewing the same data in both the SuperDOM and the Chart if you have the same symbol (Instrument) selected in both of them simultaneously. If you place a trade to an account that is selected in both of these windows as well, you will see the orders/positions reflected in both of these windows at the same time too.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

      Hey NinjaTrader_JustinD

I'm talking about how Ninjatrader spins up multiple threads based on instruments in order to allow your computer to dedicate multiple cores to the platform and improve performance.
My question is if the SuperDom spins up a separate thread or if its on the same thread and will take up more resources?

      Does that make sense?

      Thanks

        Hello mlprice12,

        Thank you for the clarification.

Yes, both the SuperDOM and the Chart will use the same thread on your computer if they have the same instrument selected in them. Basically, the platform assigns each instrument to its own core on your computer regardless of the window it is on. This is to allow other windows to continue operating and remain usable if a specific instrument's windows start freezing, allowing you to still manage trades and your accounts rather than be stuck with no way of operating the software.

What NinjaTrader needs to do is implement PROPER multi-threading.

It's pointless to have multiple cores for a CPU if one instrument is stuck on one core, no matter how many charts, etc. are used with that same instrument selected.

I mean, think about all the people who exclusively trade the ES or NQ, for example. ALL of that extra CPU power goes to waste because NinjaTrader doesn't have real multi-core support.
