    Keltner Channel Bar Colors

    Greetings,

I hope everyone is doing well. I was wondering if there is a way to change the color of the candles (or bars, depending on what's being used) based on where they close in regards to the channel. For example, I would like the bars that close under the moving average to be completely red, the bars that close above the moving average to be green, and the bars that close outside of the channel completely to be white. Is doing something like this possible?

I've included a screenshot of the layout I use in TradingView that I would love to replicate in Ninjatrader.

Any advice would be appreciated - thanks!

    Hello bshiggins86,

Thank you very much for your post.

While it would not perfectly fit these requirements, I was able to find an indicator on our NinjaTrader Ecosystem that would color the candles green/red based on their positioning in relation to an SMA. I suspect that by using both SMAs in this indicator, you might be able to set this up without further modification:

10/2/2011 Edit entry. Error in download file. Corrected now. V2. Added the option to also paint the wicks on candlesticks based on a second SMA (default is 50 periods). This indicator will color the price bar red when price closes below the SMA and green when price close above the SMA (default period is 20) […]

Here is a basic guideline of how to import NinjaScript add-ons in NinjaTrader 8:

Note — To import NinjaScripts you will need the original .zip file.

    To Import:
    1. Download the NinjaScripts to your desktop, keep them in the compressed .zip file.
    2. From the Control Center window select the menu Tools > Import > NinjaScript Add-on...
    3. Select the downloaded .zip file
    4. NinjaTrader will then confirm if the import has been successful.
Critical - Specifically for some NinjaScripts, it will prompt that you are running newer versions of @SMA, @EMA, etc. and ask if you want to replace, press 'No'

Once installed, you may add the indicator to a chart by:
    • Right-click your chart > Indicators... > Select the Indicator from the 'Available' list on the left > Add > OK
Here is a short video demonstration of the import process:If this does not fulfill the requirements, I suspect it should be relatively easy to modify it to also color candles outside of the SMA white. If you are interested in further information in this regard, please don't hesitate to let us know!

      Hello NinjaTrader_Manfred,

Thanks for finding this for me! I just installed it. I'll play around with it and see if I can adapt it to my needs.

      Much appreciated!

      Sincerely,
