    Problem with VOL indicator

    Hi,
Only when I add VOL indicator into my chart and I start to switch between time-frames like switching between daily / weekly / monthly then my chart is getting freezed and I need to restart Ninjatrader.
CPU Load without VOL Indicato is between 9 and 12% and Memory is 55%
When I add the VOL indicator the CPU usage will be around 33% however even if I move my mouse over the chart I can see that the crosshair movment is not fluid.

My computer is OMEN i7-8750H CPU, 16,0 GB RAM With dedicated graphic card.

Please noet that I'm havin this problem with the performance only when I add the VOL indicator into the chart.

Is there any work-trough to resolve this problem ?

    Thanks

    Hello njafarynia,

    Thank you for writing in.

Please use the following steps to see what (if any) NinjaScript or NinjaTrader items may be contributing to the symptoms, please open the NinjaScript Utilization Monitor:
    • Control Center > New > NinjaScript Output
    • Right-click within the NinjaScript output window > Select 'NinjaScript Utilization Monitor...
    • This window will begin to populate with NinjaScript items in order of time spent processing
    • Let this window populate for at least a few minutes then send me a screenshot of it's contents
    • If you are unsure of how to take a screenshot, I recommend using the Windows Snipping tool.
    • Click on the Windows Icon at the bottom of your screen and type the word "Snip" Click on the Snipping tool, click New, then click and drag around the area you want to screenshot
    • Click File > Save As > Save the screenshot where you can find it
    • Please click here for a video demonstration

Does this behavior only happen in one workspace or all of them?

Go to the Control Center > Workspaces > new > Call it something like "Test" > Click OK
    • Go back to the Workspaces menu and close all other workspaces but the "Test" workspace
      • Click Yes to save the workspace if you have made changes to them you want to save
      • Click No if you have not made changes to those other workspaces
    • Now that you are on the Test Workspace, go to the Workspaces menu one more time and save the Test Workspace, and close NinjaTrader
Reopen NinjaTrader and it should open to this "Test" workspace:
    • Add in a 1-minute chart with 5 days to load and the Template set to <None>
    • Add the VOL indicator to this chart and test it out to see if it still behaves the same in this workspace
Was the VOL indicator still introducing delays in this Test Workspace?

      Dear Clayton,

      Thanks for your prompt reply,

I've created a video to show the problem, starting without the VOL indicator, as you can see while I move the mouse the cross-hair is moving smoothly.
Then I add the VOL indicator and you see that the cross-hair is jumping around and not following my mouse movement.
Finally I remove again the VOL indicator and cross-hair start to move smoothly.
In all of these steps I've kept the Ninjascript Utilization Monitor on the screen.
Here is the link for vidwo as I cannot upload it due to size (10MB)

I've this problem in all workspaces.

Then I've done your suggestion and I've created a new workspace as you explained and again I've the same problem.

Please note that I'm interested in Daily / Weekly / Monthly charts and I'm using 700 days to load.
I don't have this problem in Intradays charts with 30 days data (like 5 minutes and 10 minutes charts).

      Thanks

        Hello njararynia,

        Thank you for the update.

If this same behavior was also happening on an Empty Workspace, we will want to perform one more test in Safe Mode. If the slowing behavior continues to happen in Safe Mode, then we perform a fresh installation of the platform to see if a brand new/fresh installation of NinjaTrader still slows down when the VOL indicator is added. If the Slowing does not occur in Safe Mode, this lets us know it is something being loaded into NinjaTrader when it opens.

Safe Mode will prevent NinjaTrader from:
        • Loading workspaces.
        • Connecting on start-up.
        • Loading custom assemblies.
        • Getting instrument updates from the server.

To enable safe mode, please use the following steps:
        • Exit NinjaTrader.
        • Hold the Ctrl (Control) key and double click the NinjaTrader icon.
        • Keep the Ctrl (Control) key held down until you see the Control Center.
        • You can verify you are in safe mode by going to Help -> About.

Once you have opened the platform in safe mode:
        • Reconnect to your Data Provider
        • Go to Control Center > Workspaces > New > Give this Workspace a unique name like "Test 2" and click OK
        • Open a new chart and select the Crosshairs, and make sure the cursor moves as expected
        • Now, add the VOL indicator and see if the Cursor is still moving slowly

If there are no issues with this new workspace, go to Control Center > Workspaces > hover over the workspace you just made and click Save.
        • Once saved, hover over all other open Workspaces and click Close until only the Test Workspace you just made is open

Now, click X out of the platform and select "No" to "Do you want to save changes"

Now reopen the platform like normal. It should open to the workspace you just created.
        • Is the mouse cursor still moving like normal or is it freezing again?

Please let us know the results of the steps above so we may provide the relevant steps to move forward.
