Import Symbols w/ Specific Mapping for Connections

When adding a new symbol to NinaTrader8, it just assumes all the symbol maps and names would be the same as the initially named symbol. Take for instance Berkshire Hathaway Class A or Class B. The symbol must be named with an underscore i.e. BRK_A instead of BRK.A or BRK-A

How would i upload all the mappings specific to this symbol on initial load instead of editing.

Unfortunately this is not supported. When you import a list of stock symbols, the symbol mapping fields will have the instrument symbol. Instruments with illegal characters such as a period will be converted to use an underscore instead automatically when running through the import process.

Thank you Jason, how can developers change or edit this data? I.e. where is this data stored?

You can manually change the symbol map after the stock instruments are imported. Please go to Control Center-->Tools-->Instruments. Double click the instrument and you can change the symbol mapping.

Unfortunately it is not supported to change how a list of stock instruments is imported.

Outside of say futures for roll over why are users limited from importing custom symbol mapping? I saw in another thread this was handled by NinjaTrader.sdf but it isn't. What's the solution?

You can manually import instruments with the desired symbol mapping by going to Control Center-->Tools-->Instruments. Click add in the lower right corner and a new window will open where you can enter the desired symbol mapping. Unfortunately you can't do this when importing a stock symbol list. The stock instruments will use the instrument symbol as symbol map.
