2 questions: little pin thingy and getting rid of old contracts on the DOM

Hi folks,
Two topics (see attached photo):
1) what the heck are those little "pin" - like thingys and what do they do? What does it mean when they're sideways vs straight up? Are there some instructions somewhere about them?
2) how do I get rid of old expired contracts on the DOM so I don't have to see them anymore?

Thank you for your note.

These are pins. You can pin an instrument so that it stays in the recently viewed instruments list.

To remove an instrument from the list of pinned and recently viewed instruments, first, hover your mouse cursor over the instrument you wish to remove, then press the Delete key on your keyboard.
