Price ladder only showing bid/ask prices
I'm switching over to NT8 from NT7, and can't get the Superdom to show all point index values in the price ladder (YM). I'm not talking about market depth, simply the index values above and below the bid and asked values in the center of the Superdom. I get my data from IB, but all values are shown in the NT7 Superdom, so I'm not sure how to correct this. Thank for your help!Last edited by alanack; 01-11-2022, 06:12 AM.Tags: None

Hi Jason,
I opened a new SuperDOM (without closing the first) and the problem is fixed. The problem was with the YM, using TWS. I guess I can just go with the new SuperDOM if you don't think there might be an underlying issue that should be addressed. However, I was next going to ask you about the MYM micro-emini contract. I was finally able to find it, but when attempting to add it a window states "You must set a value for the "Master Instrument" field. Of course, I don't know what should be entered here. Thanks!

I suggest to close the old SuperDOM, leave the new SuperDOM and then save your workspace at Control Center-->Workspaces. If this issue recurs in the future, please let me know and check for any consistency with today's occurrence.
I would expect this message when creating a new instrument manually at Control Center-->Tools-->Instruments. Please note that you can type in the instrument in the Instrument field of most NinjaTrader windows. For example:- Left click in the Instrument field of a chart first and hit Backspace on your keyboard.
- Type in MYM 03-22 and hit Enter on your keyboard.
- Go to Control Center-->Tools-->Instrument Lists.
- Click the instrument list on the left side.
- Click add on the right.
- Type MYM 03-22 and hit Enter on your keyboard.

I was able to add the MYM to the list, so those question are all answered. I just noticed, though - it looks like when you open a new SuperDOM you have to reconfigure it, it doesn't recreate the previous settings. Is there a setting to duplicate these settings when a new SuperDOM is opened? Thanks!

Hi Jason,
It seems this problem with the numbers not showing up in the price ladder is still here. I closed the one SuperDOM where the numbers were present, saved the first SuperDOM as default, opened a new SuperDOM, and again the numbers are missing. I also restarted NT and opened a new SuperDOM and the problem persists. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hello alanack,
Thank you for your reply.
Please provide a screenshot of your SuperDOM window. Make sure that both the price ladder and the 'Instrument' field are completely visible.- To send a screenshot with Windows 10 or newer I would recommend using the Windows Snipping Tool.
- Alternatively to send a screenshot press Alt + PRINT SCREEN to take a screenshot of the selected window. Then go to Start--> Accessories--> Paint, and press CTRL + V to paste the image. Lastly, save as a jpeg file and send the file as an attachment.

Hello alanack,
Thank you for your reply and for providing this screenshot.
It almost looks as though some of the colors have been changed from within the Properties window, which is preventing them from being visible. Let's reset the SuperDOM to it's default settings to see if this will restore the original color of the text for the Buy, Sell, and Price columns. To do this;- Right-click on your SuperDOM
- Select Properties
- Select 'preset' from the lower right corner of the properties window
- Select 'restore'
- Select Apply and OK
I look forward to your response.

Hi Zachary,
You were right, the text was white on a white ground. I didn't reset to default, I changed the colors of the Price Column Foreground and the numbers are there. When setting these colors up it was a little confusing - if I may make a suggestion, you might rename Price Column Foreground to Price Column Text. Anyway, thanks for your help. One other question - I know that if you close a chart and then save the workspace you will lose that chart, but earlier today I closed a workspace and all charts were minimized. I saved everything as usual, and it seemed this also caused me to lose these charts. I had to restore all charts from a backup. Is this correct, everything must be visible if it is to be saved? Thanks!

Hello alanack,
Thank you for your reply.
That is not correct. If a chart is minimized, it will be retained as part of the workspace. There must have been something else that caused the charts to close prior to saving. One mistake that I catch people doing really frequently that causes their workspace to be overwritten with a blank file is that they go down to the Windows Task Bar, right-click on the NinjaTrader icon and select 'Close all windows'. It's important to only ever exit the platform from the Control Center window and not to use the 'Close all windows' option from the Windows task bar. This will close all of the individual windows prior to closing the Control Center and will prompt you to save after all the windows have been closed, which results in a blank workspace.
