Importing 3rd party historical price data. Tick, or 1 Minute?

When running optimizations, can I use 3rd party historical price tick data when selecting in Data Series > Type > Minute for optimization that our outside the range of what's provided by my broker? Or must I import and use historical 1 minute price data when running optimization with the Data Series set to Minute?

The reason I'm asking is I'm looking to import 3rd party historical price data into NT8 and I'm not sure if tick data is compatible with optimization that only use Minutes in the Data Series. I found that that using a range from 1 -10 Minutes in the Data Series rendered high returns.

If you have access to historical Tick data that is in the required format then yes you can import this data into NinjaTrader then use this data to run optimizations for Tick based intervals.
