Difference between tick and minute price?

    Hi,

    Please see the attachment image.
How is it possible that the tick charts have a gap up and the minute charts a gap down?
At 11:00 the tick charts show a giant move up and after that they are in sync again.

    Thanks,

    John

    Hello DrummerBoy,

    Thank you for the note.

When comparing Tick based Charts against Time based charts, you want to remember that a Tick-based chart can form bars much faster or slower than a time-based chart of the same instrument making it hard to compare what happened over a specific time frame.
    • In the screenshot below, you can see that when the market slows down and there are fewer ticks happening at the time, the Minute based chart looks closer to the Tick-based chart, but when the market is volatile and numerous ticks are coming in per minute, this causes more bars to plot on the Tick based chart making it look different than the Time-based counterpart.
I suggest putting the Tick-based Data Series into the same chart with the Time-based chart to more easily see what kind of movement occurred between different times.
    • As you can see with the chart below, this allows you to see what kind of movement happened between specific hour bars more easily

Creating a Multi-Timeframe Chart is as simple as selecting a second data series in a Chart's Data Series Window with a different time interval. Please see the following link for more information on creating a Multi-Instrument Chart:

      Hi Clayton,

      Thanks for the quick reply.
I still don't understand how a tick chart can have a different price compared to a time chart. The price is always the center imo. If I take the MES or MYM it looks fine.
I already tried deleting the cache folder but that didn't help.
Is there anything else I can try?
Maybe you can try to reproduce this. If you don't have the problem it has to be something in my installation.

      Thanks,

      John

        Hello DrummerBoy,
        Thank you for the message..

The most common reason for Charts to not line up with their prices would be due to Rendering Delays.
These can occur when a specific indicator or mixture of settings causes an indicator to take so long to process the information that it starts to fall behind resulting in a chart that is lagging.

To see what (if any) NinjaScript items may be contributing to the symptoms, please open the NinjaScript Utilization Monitor:
        • Control Center > New > NinjaScript Output
        • Right-click within the NinjaScript output window > Select 'NinjaScript Utilization Monitor...
        • This window will begin to populate with NinjaScript items in order of time spent processing
        • Let this window populate for at least 2-5 minutes then analyze the results
          • This essentially shows how much time something has spent between receiving an input, processing, and giving an output since the NinjaScript Utilization Monitor been opened.
          • You are welcome to take a screenshot of the NinjaScript utilization monitor and send it in a response.
You may also follow along with the infographic below on how to check that your CPU is not being overwhelmed and causing the platform to fall behind in calculations:
        • If any one CPU core is hitting 100% usage, this could result in rendering delays
        • If the RAM or DISK usage is hitting 100%, this could result in rendering delays
