Back Testing - running through a number of scenarios automatically

Hello,

I have built my strategy and am getting ready to finetune my entrance and exit triggers. Is there a way to run through a number of scenarios automatically?

For example, take a simple strategy where you enter short once the price closes past the 20 period upper Bollinger band and exit at the close beyond the lower Bollinger band. In this strategy you have a stop loss which will execute depending on how much higher the price goes above the entrance price. What I am needing is a way to test how far I should let the price rise before allowing it to exit. I have been doing this manually but have a number of indicators I am wanting to dial-in. I need a way to say, "Test this strategy's exit indicator at 101%, 102% 103%... 120% etc. above the entrance price." and have it provide me a printout of the profitability of each. Hope that makes sense.

Has anyone created something similar or knows of some examples I can study?

Hello Kensonprib,

What you described could be done in the strategy analyzer by using an optimization. That would let you pick a range of numbers for any user inputs you created.

A good starting place would be to look at how the SampleMACrossOver uses its fast and slow parameters, those could be optimized in the analyzer.
