editor change/replace tab character handling

Hi Support,

I don't know if this is a problem for you but it bothers me a good bit. The change replace dialog in the script editor does not seem to handle tab character as I would exspect. I can not instert tabs and I can not cut and paste tab characters into the dialog. Or is there a problem with my installation?

You help or understanding would sure be appreciated.

To confirm, you are referring the NinjaScript Editor?

You are hitting the tab key and a tab is not being inserted as demonstrated in the video below?

I don't think this would be an issue with NinjaTrader, this would be an issue with the computer itself.
Do you have any software on the computer that handles hotkeys or does automation with keypresses or mouse clicks?

Yes, I am referring to the NinjaScript Editor.

The Tab key does work properly in the Editor. It is specifically the change/replace dialog within NinjaScript Editor where I have found trouble. When I try to insert tabs in the replace text spaces are put in there place in the text of the editor. Try to insert 12 tabs in front of the replae text. Will all 12 tab characters be placed in the text of the editor? I think maybe there is a conflict with indentation perhaps.

You are able to add tabs to a script directly, correct?

Hitting tab in the Find window would tab to the next control. The same will happen in visual studio and most other editors including notepad in the Find window. Unfortunately, a tab would be a special character than cannot be entered in this window.

Yes I can add tabs to a script directly. Is there an escape sequence or control sequence which can be used in the Find/Replace dialog to insure tabs will result in the script text? I have tried \t and \\t with no success. Is there a document about Character escape sequences allowed in the NinjaStript Editor and Find/Replace function?

I have seen the doc page: "Editor Keyboard Shortcuts". It is about Editor commands. It does not have anything to say about Character escape sequences or Character control sequences.

Maybe they are simply not allowed?

Use the Wildcard as the Search type and search for \t.
