Good morning everyone, I have a MacBook Air with parallels, I had to get a pc dedicated to ninjas as the loading times of the workspace were very long and comparing myself with colleagues I realized that virtualization does not take the most of the potential of the Mac ... with the same settings as the nt8 and the same network M1 charges in 7'30''', the pc (of the i7 10750h with 16gb ram) in 45''-1'30''' ... a nice difference yet in single core benchmarks (where nt8 most need) the M1 cup would be much better ... I could notice that it is more important to have more Clock per core What a very core, maybe this is the apple limit? Or do virtualization and nt8 actually not use the Mac?

Which version of Windows for ARM did you use? 10 or 11?
Was it loading the workspace or calculation of indicators that took up most of the 7'30'''. I'm currently running NT8 on an old intel iMac under Parallels and my indicators take about 10 minutes to load/calculate, then it runs fine.
What memory and RAM did your M1 Mac have and what portion of your memory and RAM did you allocate to the virtual machine?
Performance seems to be an issue for NT8 from what I read in this forum. It is not clear if the virtualisation or the efficiency of Microsoft's X64 emulation is the problem. I'm told Windows for ARM in general runs great on the new Apple Silicon machines. Was this your experience (other than NT8)?
Thanks.

I used the 10 which was then updated to 11 ... overall it works well although a little less fluid than the other pc which is still a high-performance PC ... it takes a long time to load the tick indicators I need, I only made the parallel between Windows native on the pc and virtualized on mac ... on parallels I dedicated 10gb of ram and 3 cores ... I tried various solutions but it does not bring benefit dedicating more resources, even with 8gb of ram it is not that it gets worse ... I use Windows just to trade so I have no experience with other virtualized software.
Certainly from the tests done the problem either it is parallels or Windows that interacts with parallels and mac components ... I think it is difficult to understand the matter well, surely I can not wait 10 min to load graphs that are also few. A colleague of mine with bootcamp goes almost like my PC so the problem is virtualization. I'm sorry because from m1 apple he did magic as a performance, I'm putting votes everywhere so that a native nt is created on mac could be very performing in my opinion

In my opinion you will never see a native Mac version of NinjaTrader. The whole sales pitch for NT8 was that it was built around WPF for a better user experience and more modern Windows underpinnings. The company's response to Mac users has always been to use Parallels or some other virtualization.
Could someone from the NinjaTrader team please comment on the current recommendation for Apple Silicon Mac users since virtualization is not a practical solution any more? Will there be an ARM64 compile of NT8 that would re-open this possibility?

I think you're right, basically virtualizing a work tool exposes you to more problems but with bootcamp it could still be interesting ... to date the difference in performance is clear for what I see and unfortunately I have to choose to have two computers, one of which is definitely Windows for ninja which is absolutely fine but it's a shame.

I raised a ticket with support to see if they're planning a native ARM version. Their response is below.
No, there are no plans to release a specific version of NinjaTrader that is supported for use with the ARM architecture. That being said, the workarounds that users mentioned in the forum may allow you to do so with the current version of NinjaTrader.

NinjaTrader 8 was designed to take full advantage of modern PC architecture. To achieve the highest possible level of performance, NinjaTrader 8 will utilize all available CPU cores and additional memory resources. Depending on your actual usage with NinjaTrader, you may need more or less resources than the average user. Additional memory will be of direct benefit when running strategy optimizations, and the amount of additional memory needed is proportional to the number of CPU cores available. NinjaTrader can fully utilize a CPU with up to 64 logical processors (cores), using a CPU with greater than 64 logical processors is not advised (this would mean processors would be grouped, which is not supported).- 2 (GHz) or faster quad core 64-bit processor
- 8 GB RAM
- DirectX 10 compatible graphics card
- SSD Hard Drive
