Unhandled exception. Obj ref. not set to an instance of object. Error

    Hello Support,

I'm getting this error when I try to load an Instrument List into a Market Analyzer Window containing a preloaded template.

The error ONLY appears in the NT Log. I've tried tracing the error using Visual Studio but the exception is not occurring in the NT scripts being used by the preloaded template.

The problem seems to be related to the specific (MA) Market Analyzer template I saved and only when I try and load an "Instrument List".

If I open MA, then load an Instrument List, then load the MA template. It updates all instruments and works fine.

If I open MA, then load the MA template, then try to load an Instrument list, it fails with this error "Unhandled exception. Obj ref. not set to an instance of object." after loading only the first instrument in the list.

Can you please let me know what is going wrong and how i can fix this.

    Thank you

What version of NinjaTrader 8 are you using? Please provide the entire version number. This can be found under Help -> About (Example: 8.0.?.?)

Could you provide the exact steps you're taking in order to hit the log message? I've gathered this much from your post:
    • Open a Market Analyzer with a 'preloaded template' - what does preloaded mean in this context? Are you loading a template? Is it the default template?
    • Add instruments by right-clicking > Add instrument > Hover over an instrument list > Choose 'Select all'
Does the same occur if you add a single instrument instead of an instrument list?

If possible, please attach the template file to your response. You'll find Market Analyzer template in your Documents > NinjaTrader 8 > templates > MarketAnalyzer folder.

      NT version is 8.0.23.1

      Re-create the error steps:
      1. Open MA
      2. Load Template "big board" (attached)
      3. Load "Select All" instrument list into MA
      4. error

However if you change step 3 and load 1 instrument. It works ok with no error.

It looks like I'll need your custom 'csc' add-ons in order to truly attempt to replicate this symptom. Did you develop these add-ons? If not, who is the original developer?

Yes I wrote them. I'm ok if you need to link a remote session.

I'd recommend waiting until we hear back from your add-on developers. I am unable to reproduce this symptom with your template file, so I suspect it may be related to the custom add-ons in some fashion.

Sorry I didn't phrase my last response well. I didn't write the developers, I wrote the C# scripts. templates, etc..

Having said that, I was testing various things and I think I may have found a problem with Market Analyzer.

The template has column "Instrument" in the middle of the other columns.

I moved col. Instrument back to the first column location and errors are fixed.

I now able to load multiple instruments into the MA template using "SELECT ALL" off a list.

                Thanks for the clarification.

Can you recreate this symptom using only built-in indicators/columns? If so, please provide exact steps on how to create a template which will introduce this symptom.
