Can't Cancel Live Orders: Pre-Submitting Orders and How to Stop Them

    Hello,

So this week, my cash value fell under the $2000 margin requirement on Interactive Brokers. I decided to switch all my strategies this morning to the Sim101 account, but unbeknown to me, I couldn't start up one strategy as I kept getting this error:

I went to go check my Orders & Trades section in the IBKR portal only to realize that I have pre-submitted orders yesterday on the live account.

    1) I found a link to a previous support ticket which suggests that the order is stuck in the local NinjaTrader Database. Should I generate a new NinjaTrader DB?

1a) If I were to generate a new NinjaTrader DB, would copying my current files (historical data, templates, strategies, etc) be as easy as merging certain folders?

    2) Is there a setting that I can change on NinjaTrader that will stop my strategies from sending pre-submitted orders to IKBR?

    Thanks,
    Anton Abramovych

    Hello Newant,

    Thanks for writing in.

Have you contacted your broker to verify if you have any open live positions?
Are there any open positions in Control Center > Positions?
If so, are you able to right-click and select 'Close position'?

If you were to generate a new DB, you would not be able to merge the old DB with the new one.

The is not a built-in setting within NinjaTrader that would stop my strategies from sending pre-submitted orders. This is a behavior that you may want to build into your strategy.

Please let us know if you have further questions.

I haven't contacted Interactive Brokers per se about this matter, but I have seen a pre-submitted order yesterday that I closed today.

There is an open position on FISV with a quantity of 2, it should be 1 but I'm curious to see what'll happen on exit.

Wait, so I can't just take the bin folder and replace it with the new DB's bin?

What if I cancel them automatically instead with Time in force, would that work?

        Hello Newant,

        Thanks for your reply.

You are able to create a new DB, however, you cannot merge/combine 2 DB files, if you replace that file, all of your data will be lost. If you want to keep that data, rename your DB file instead.
If you are able to build a strategy that cancels an order automatically, rather than rely on the TIF to close and order, then that can be utilized.

Please let us know if you have further questions.
