[Bug] Strategy Analyzer "Columns - Results" re-arrange

    Hello guys,

there is some bug in the re-arrangement of columns in the Strategy Analyzer window.

    How to reproduce:

    1) run optimization
    2) right click on header of result columns and go to "Properties" in the context menu
    3) In "Columns - Results" section check "Avg. trade" and click "preset" and "save"
    4) run optimization again
    5) Avg. trade not visible and there is no way to make it visible by dragging columns

The only way to see it is to un-check it again in Properties and close it, and then open Properties again and select it again.

P.S. It would be nice if you do re-calculation magic for columns width that you would add in context menu item "re-arrange" or "re-arrange to fit" or "fit all" to make all columns fit (since I have this problem almost in all places where you have columns and apply auto calculation of the width

    Thanks!

    Hello login_dejavu,

    Thank you for your post.

    Unfortunately, I am unable to reproduce this issue with the steps provided. The only time that I am unable to make the 'Avg. Trade' column appear after enabling it is if I exit out of the 'Properties' window by hitting cancel or the 'X' button before I have selected 'Apply', which would be expected since the change is not applied until selecting either 'Apply' or 'OK'. I've included a link to a video that I've made publicly available of myself completing the steps that you provided;

World's leading screen capture + recorder from Snagit + Screencast by Techsmith. Capture, edit and share professional-quality content seamlessly.

Please let me know if I am missing a step or am misunderstanding the procedure that you are using to reproduce this issue.

        Hello login_dejavu,

        Thank you for that video.

        What you are demonstrating in the video is not a bug, but expected behavior when resizing columns. At some point, you've resized the column to that size and it will either need to be readjusted, removed & re-added, or you will simply need to close that Strategy Analyzer and open a new one. I've demonstrated in the publicly available video below how to correctly resize a column that has been compressed so that it is again visible;

World's leading screen capture + recorder from Snagit + Screencast by Techsmith. Capture, edit and share professional-quality content seamlessly.

When resizing columns, it's good practice to work from right to left. Additionally, always make sure to save your Workspace after adjusting any columns to your preference so that the adjustment is saved. With all that said, I can understand how it may not be ideal to have to open a brand new Strategy Analyzer each time that a user accidentally compresses a column to that level. I will submit a feature request for a 'fit all' or 'recalculate' option for grid columns on your behalf. I will follow up with an internal tracking number for your reference as soon as it is created.

Thanks in advance for your patience.

Sorry, let me explain what I demonstrated on video:

          1) before clicking "Run" I show that "Avg. trade" is selected
          2) after clicking "Run" I DO NOT see "Avg. trade" column in results of optimization (when optimization finished)

            Hello login_dejavu,

            Thank you for your reply.

In your video, the column is there but has been resized & compressed to a point that it is not visible. Please see the image below, in which I've highlighted the column using a screenshot from your video.

Yes, and this was exactly the reason I create this thread.

Or you say it how it should be and it is usable for me as a user of that feature?

                Hello login_dejavu,

                Thank you for your reply.

What I'm saying is that you are not encountering a bug in the software. This is the expected behavior when resizing grid columns within NinjaTrader, and the columns will retain the size that you've adjusted them to be until the column is either removed, resized, or a new Strategy Analyzer is opened. However, as I previously mentioned, I can understand why a 'fit to window' option would be useful and have already submitted this a feature request to our Development Team for consideration. I will follow up with a tracking number once one is created.

But on video I posted, there is NO optimization results originally and Column "Avg. trade" selected in settings. So when I run optimization and do not resize anything I expect that all columns would arrange their width, since this is default number of columns on loading optimization-results(without me touching anything). But "Avg. trade" is not visible.

I would understand your explanation If I start dragging something and would mess-up calculated width for each column. But on video you can see that the issue in pristine state when first optimization results loaded (and Avg. trade was selected and saved as default column).

                    Hello login_dejavu,

                    Thank you for your reply.

So you had not run optimizations in this same window before and you had not resized that column previously in this same window at any point either?

I record one more video, I hope it will be more clear.

                      1) I saved option for "Avg. trade" as default.
                      2) closed all NT windows except main one
                      3) start recording video
                      4) the rest in the video: https://youtu.be/kDGzQpTwv2k

                          Hi Zachary.
Is there an update to the "'fit to window" feature request?
Is there an Ref. Number for it?
I also encounter in this problem which annoying.

                          Thx.
