The brokerages supported for stocks would be Interactive Brokers and TD Ameritrade.

If I would use NT8 with Interactive Brokers does this mean my orders will be send directly to exchange, so I don't need their platform? I'm interested in NT8 algo strategy like OP.

We have a section of the NinjaTrader 8 help guide which describes where your orders reside. This section is located here:

The section for Interactive Brokers states, "Orders in a state 'Accepted' or 'Working' are at the brokerage or exchange. If the exchange does not support a specific order type, the order will be active on the Interactive Broker servers.
OCO (One Cancels Other) functionality is natively supported on their servers."
