Strategy Builder and ATM Strategies.

Is there a way to be able to use the ATM strategies with a strategy built in the Strategy Builder? Like point the exits form the Builder to an ATM. If not, a future update possibly?

Thank you for your note.

There would not be a way to use an ATM Strategy within a Strategy Builder strategy - the code would need to be unlocked and the logic for the ATM Strategy added manually.

We have an example of using an ATM Strategy within a NinjaScript Strategy that comes built into NinjaTrader called Sample ATM Strategy that may be viewed in the NinjaScript Editor. Here are some help guide links that go over using ATMs in NinjaScript Strategies:

However, we do have an existing feature request to allow use of ATM strategies from the Strategy Builder that I have added a vote to on your behalf. This feature request may be tracked under the number SFT-1986.

As with all feature requests, interest is tracked before implementation is considered, so we cannot offer an ETA or promise of fulfillment. If implemented, it will be noted in the Release Notes page of the Help Guide.

Thanks Kate. So it is not as simple as just pointing to an ATM strategy created within the Ninja script. And then you are supposed to manually monitor the ATM?

Thank you for your reply.

No this would be considered more advanced in terms of NinjaScript creation, to use an ATM.

Executions from ATM Strategies will not have an impact on the hosting NinjaScript strategy position and PnL - the NinjaScript strategy hands off the execution aspects to the ATM, thus no monitoring via the regular NinjaScript strategy methods will take place (also applies to strategy performance tracking).

Is this true? To me, the whole point of automation is so the system does it for you. I run a ton of strategies and don't have to monitor them. I would love to us ATM strategy to easily set different targets and stops for each entry. Is that not what it's for? Why the need to monitor it? sorry I'm just confused, thanks

ATM's are self managed so there are limited things that you can do with them from NinjaScript. You can find details on how to use ATM's by reviewing the SampleATMStrategy script that comes with the platform.
