commissions with NT8 & Interactive brokers

I'm confused on how commissions work with NT8 & Interactive brokers? Do I have to pay both commissions for each trade or just the one broker?

The commission fees listed on the NinjaTrader website are only for NinjaTrader Brokerage clients.

NinjaTrader does not charge an additional commission fee if you are placing trades to a third-party broker. If you are using the NinjaTrader platform to trade with Interactive Brokers, then you would only need to pay the commission fees to this account.

Ok, when I spoke to the IB rep they mentioned I would have to pay their commission fees as well as NT

For information on commissions for accounts with Interactive Brokers you will need to contact Interactive Brokers.

To trade an Interactive Brokers account in NinjaTrader you will need to lease or purchase a live license key.

Forgive my ignorance, if I just wanted to trade futures, do I need IB at all, can I just use NinjaTrader for all my brokerage services? What would be the purpose of one using a 3rd party broker like IB to access your platform?

IB is simply another supported broker other than NinjaTrader. Which broker you choose to go with is up to you. As far as differences you would need to contact them for more specific information on margins, commissions and account specific items.

i guess what im trying to ask is why does ninja work with 3rd party brokers? how does that benefit your customer? are their things that they offer that there needs to be a partnership?

NinjaTrader offers an in-house brokerage service for futures trading, which will provide a complete solution for the vast majority of our clients who trade futures.

We also support a handful of third-party brokers like Interactive Brokers. Due to the financial regulations in different countries, some traders might have an easier time opening an account with a third-party broker. Some of the third-party brokers will also support markets that would not be available through NinjaTrader Brokerage. For example, Interactive Brokers will offer accounts for stock trading whereas NinjaTrader Brokerage will only offer accounts for futures trading.

I think that I would like to open an account with Interactive Brokers & use the NT8 platform & then integrate that with Interactive Brokers platform. Besides purchasing/leasing the software from NT are there other fees that NT charges?

When trading with Interactive Brokers, NinjaTrader would only charge for the cost of the License Key. Any other fees would come directly from Interactive Brokers.

I just realized that IB has very high intra-day margins for ES contracts, I will have to consider using GFF as a broker, are there other canadian-integrated brokers that you offer with low intra-day margins?
