    Trade Performance Using Multiple PC"s

I'm trying to find a solution. My problem is that I trade from my house on one PC and at my trading partner's house on another PC. I never have NinjaTrader opened on both PCs at one time and I'm trying to find a way to have an accurate trade performance when I use the trade performance tab.

I believe all trades are stored on the PCs in which the trade was placed therefore cause the trade performance to be very inaccurate and useless at this time.
I also may open a trade on my home PC to later close that same trade on the second PC.

Does anyone know of a solution that could work?

You could consider nominating one of the PCs as the "trading computer" and then only trade on it. When you go to the "other" PC, you could use it merely to access the trading computer remotely and trade on the trading computer via the remote connection from the other PC.

That could work, but with the following considerations, no doubt amongst others:
    • The trading PC would need to be running when you are not using it directly
    • Any significant computer issues on the trading computer that occur when using it remotely may not be easily rectified when remote
    • Security needs careful attention when configuring for remote access
This approach side-steps the need to be concerned about the problem from a NinjaTrader perspective.

If you want to trade directly on both systems and somehow integrate the trading activities within NinjaTrader, that would be possible, I expect, but only with custom code to facilitate that. NinjaTrader has capabilities that could allow such code to be written, but it would be a relatively "non-trivial" exercise. I'm not aware of any capability to do that "out-of-the-box", although someone may already have written something to do it. You could search the NinjaTrader Ecosystem for possible existing solutions.

Hope that gives you some further ideas on the matter. Good luck with your trading (and likewise for your trading buddy).

I have been using a remote connection to trade from my PC at home, but the remote connection does not support multiple monitors. I have been forced down to a 15-inch laptop screen vs 3 32inch screens.

Thanks for taking the time to write back.

        Hello,

        Thanks for your posts.

Yes, this is correct in that the Trade Performance tools would pull from the database file located on the computer, and trades placed outside of this computer will not be considered. Outside of the remote access solution, perhaps having a laptop you bring back and forth could work. Otherwise, I am not sure of the specifics of how a remote access application may handle multiple monitors, though TeamViewer allows you to scroll through the various monitors one by one.

Please let me know if I may be of any further assistance.

            Hello,

            Thank you for the note.

You could backup your database from one PC and import that backup into the second PC.

The following instructions will explain how to backup your NinjaTrader 8 files to a second computer.

            Follow these steps:
            • Open NinjaTrader 8 on the computer you wish to backup from and disconnect from any open connections if applicable
            • Go to Tools > Export > Backup File
            • Select which items you would like to backup(database, in your case) and click 'Export'
            • Email or Save the file to an external storage device. The file can be found in the Documents\NinjaTrader 8 Backup folder on your PC

Open NinjaTrader 8 on the computer you wish to restore to and disconnect from any open connections if applicable.
            • Open the email with the backup file or connect the external storage and save the backup file to a destination of your choosing (I recommend the desktop as it is easy to find)
            • Go to Tools > Import > Backup File...
            • Select the backup file you created from the location you saved it

I have also attached the publicly available Help Guide section regarding backup and restore below:

I'm sure the procedure Melissa outlines works exactly as documented. I'm not sure that it is what is needed here.

I suspect the intention is not to overwrite the database on one PC with that from another PC. I think the intention is to export all records of trades on one PC and merge them into the records of all trades on the other PC, producing a single, comprehensive set of trade records from the trading on both PCs. At least that is what I would want from the description of the problem.

Although this is not what is being asked for, it may be of some use: https://ninjatrader.com/support/foru...v-in-real-time

              Thanks.
