    Fractional Order Size For Cryptocurrencies

    Hi,

    I was using

    SubmitOrderUnmanaged(...)

to submit orders for equities and futures but now I am attempting to trade Cryptos and it looks like this method is not overridden when passing a double in terms of order size.
If you trade cryptos obviously you need to be able to pass fractional order sizes.
How can I circumvent this problem?

    Best regards
    Marco

    Hello marcobar975,

    Thank you for your post.

There currently is not a way to submit order quantities with a fractional value. Support for this is being considered with the ticket ID SFT-1422. I have submitted a vote on your behalf. We cannot offer an ETA or promise of fulfillment, but this would be a requirement for full CryptoCurrency support in the future, which is not available at this time.

Numbers for ticket ID's will be noted in the Release Notes page of the Help Guide when implemented.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.

      Hi,

so, as I understand, for time being, NT8 supports crypto only for charting and backtesting (but no fractional size) and it is not possible to trade live on any exchange including Coinbase. Is that correct? If so, this is quite a big ticket! Is there any timeline for live trading to be operational?...otherwise people will have to evaluate different solutions.

      Best Regards
      Marco

        Hello marcobar975,

        Thanks for your reply.

Charting and Sim trading is possible, however the platform is not yet ready to fully support crypto trading and thus live trading is currently not supported. Buying and selling partial quantities is one current limitation which would need a solution before further efforts can be invested towards live crypto currency trading.

I have also added a vote for you to a feature request to allow live crypto trading as well. This is being tracked under the number SFT-2334.

Please let us know if we may be of further assistance to you.

          Hello,

Can you add my vote as wel for SFT-2334? I would like to see live crypto (futures) trading implemented on NT8.
Or can I vote for something like this on another place?

          Have a nice weekend.

          Best Regards,
          Bert

This will add much value to your product... looks like Cryptos are going to be receiving A LOT OF MONEY as other instruments are liquidated...follow the money!!

                Hello

How can I control the precision (I mean decimal places) of values of indicators like VOL in case of crypto. Now it has 2 decimal places only.

                  Hello ren37,

                  Thank you for your reply.

This would require modifying the indicator and overriding the indicator's FormatPriceMarker() method:

But I was asked about the indicator's value. For VOL indicator this is bar volume but not the price.

                      Hello ren37,

                      Thank you for your reply.

The name of this is somewhat misleading, so I understand your confusion. What it should really be named is FormatValueMarker() - it will override whatever the value saved for the plot is whether it's a price or a returned value. I've created a simple example that modifies the standard VOL indicator with the example code from the page above to display four decimal places that I've attached.

                          Count my voice too, please.

To keep the API the same you may implement the order size for crypto as the number of minimal coin fractions. The minimal fraction of BTC is satoshi for instance.

                          Regards,
